Texas Public School Organization and Administration
The publication of the Texas Public School Organization and Administration is a three- decade collaborative tradition between educational leadership scholars in Texas. Over the last few years, Texas principal and superintendent preparation programs have significantly evolved by intentionally focusing on the development of principals as instructional leaders and superintendents as capacity builders. In response to these paradigm shifts in educational leadership, it is necessary to redesign our textbook to better prepare aspiring educational leaders and support practicing school administrators. Moreover, changes in Texas certification assessments, resulting from new state professional standards, should provide the framework for our work as scholars.
The editors of the 18th edition of Texas Public School Organization and Administration aim to revamp the book to provide aspiring and practicing educational leaders with a publication that will add to the body of scholarship on educational administration and further define effective instructional leadership practices and capacity building for school leaders. The edited book will include chapters aligned to each of the Texas principal and superintendent standards and competencies which can be used by principal and superintendent preparation programs and practitioners in the field.
